Analysis of the risk involved by cross winds on high speed trains

Meteodyn evaluates the risks to exceed critical wind speeds and measures wind speed thresholds for which trains speed must be reduced to keep the traffic safe and an ongoing service. Strategies of protection are proposed.

Monitoring of transportation systems with real time and forecasted wind maps (ports, roads, aerial cableways…)

The system defines the directional wind speed thresholds to run the alarm or operation procedures (offshore anchorage, tug boats requirements, wind alert systems, traffic stop or diversion…). Alarm frequencies are evaluated according to local climatology.

Meteodyn helps you to comply with the EC1 European standard by calculating the peak dynamic pressure depending on the coefficients of roughness, orography and sometimes the surrounding building effects.

Assessment of wind pressure features on buildings envelope

For the complex structures (bridges, airports, tall buildings, stadium or large span roof structures…), whose aerodynamics coefficients cannot be provided by the Eurocode 1, wind loads can be assessed by the way of numerical calculations.

To avoid wind induced tipping over of tower cranes, Meteodyn computes, regardless of the site complexity, wind speed peak for a 50-year recurrence interval, at the crane hook level. Meteodyn has developed a specific tool to assess wind overload due to dynamic behaviors of cranes. We use our own tool – DynaGAT – developped by Meteodyn experts.

According to the wind speeds on site and with respect to the documented capability of cranes (legal or given by the operator), Meteodyn brings solution: high winds alert systems (location and settings).
