The most accurate CFD software for wind resource assessment
A powerful wind energy software for any type of terrain
Whether on simple or complex terrain, including forests, hills or lakes, Meteodyn WT computes for each time step all the wind characteristics and estimates the annual energy production (AEP) for a wind farm.
To model the wind and accurately estimate the wind resource, our wind energy software employs CFD* technology which has been in use at Meteodyn since 2003. The results obtained are accurate, thanks to the physical forests and atmospheric boundary layer models. Additionally, the software considers every step of the input time series and delivers results for each time step. Reducing therefore the dependance on statistical models.
Meteodyn WT is suitable for both beginners and experts in numerical simulation wishing to carry out studies of wind resource assessment.
*CFD: Computational fluid dynamics
Computation of annual energy production (AEP)The calculation of the annual energy production (AEP) may be obtained from the rotor equivalent wind speed (REWS) and considers wake effects.
Automatic atmospheric stability determination
The atmospheric stability may be determined for every time step using two temperature measurements and a speed measurement.
Consideration of several meteorological mastsAll measuring masts of a site may be considered in your simulations. Given the distance between the elements in question, our wind software automatically weights the contribution of each mast so that you obtain reliable and accurate results. You may also customize the influence of the weighting based on the confidence placed on each mast.
Full integration of mesoscale data into micro scale calculations
Micro-scale wind simulations consider the thermal stability of the atmospheric boundary layer via the turbulent mixture. To achieve this on large areas of computation, it is advisable to integrate the wind data resulting from mesoscale simulations. Meteodyn WT assimilates wind data from a grid of mesoscale points as a climatological synthesis input.
Full compliance with the IEC 61400 standard
Meteodyn WT provides the wind characteristics at the wind turbine locations. It determines the wind turbine class to ensure their structural integrity (IEC 61400-1).
CFD technology at its maximum
The software is based on CFD technology. It accurately simulates the wind flow and its characteristics on any terrain including lakes, hills or forests.
To correctly estimate the production of wind turbines, it is necessary to extrapolate the wind data obtained at the reference mast to the wind turbine locations. This functionality helps a great deal, since in complex terrain it is sometimes very difficult to position several meteorological masts. More generally, this methodology may also be used to extrapolate wind data from the reference mast to any point in the site for the purpose of performing site calibration (IEC 61400-12-1).
Meteodyn WT is equipped with the Migal-S solver, our exclusive solver devoted to wind energy. Its speed of calculation to reach convergence remains unmatched.
An accurate and reliable wind resource assessment
The economic viability of a wind farm is secured by an accurate wind resource assessment and the proper analysis of wind characteristics. For all points Meteodyn WT calculates:
- The wind speed and direction
- The turbulence intensity
- The wind shear
- The wind angle of incidence
- The energy density and the AEP
- The vertical profile of the wind
- The 50-year extreme wind
- A configurable forest model to consider different forests by selecting their height and density.
- Several wake models required to consider the interactions between wind turbines are proposed for small wind farms or wind farm clusters.
- Several topographic databases from around the world, certified by international agencies and recognized by the wind power industry.

An easy to use complete tool
An intuitive 3D interfaceThe interface of our wind energy software simplifies the management of your projects, keeping all of them accessible and available on the same map.
Import with ease
Meteorological or mesoscale data from a measurement mast, a lidar or a mesoscale simulation,
Wind turbine types to calculate the production.
A self-convergence toolSometimes some calculations may fail to converge. Therefore, Meteodyn has developed a self-convergence tool that will automatically adjust the CFD parameters and relaunch them, giving them a greater chance to converge.
Team collaboration simplified

Simplified ExportsExport your results to numerous formats: Flowres, WRG / RSF, WRB and FMV. Other exports for Google Earth, Surfer and Tecplot® are also possible.
The correction of lidar data
On complex terrain, lidars require a correction to consider the surrounding terrain.
Meteodyn has therefore partnered with the two leading lidar manufacturers on the market to develop a lidar data correction tool.
Multiple computer processor cores
Decrease your computation time by dedicating multiple processor cores for a single direction calculation (parallelism) or multiple ones. The software controls the available memory and optimizes the calculation queue.
Benefit from scientific expertise and in-depth analysis of your projects. Our team of experts is here to help you through consulting services.
The HPC version allows you to optimize your computer resources by using an external high performance server. Consequently, you will be able to launch a very large number of calculations simultaneously without any geographical constraint.
