Complete, verify and analyze wind data.

Meteodyn WDA verifies, completes, and analyzes measured wind data. The software is versatile as it can process mast, weather station, LIDAR and SODAR data. A specific marking system detects errors in the data according to advanced and customizable rules. It then classifies the data into several categories. Afterwards, it is possible to complete and extrapolate the consolidated data.

Meteodyn WDA uses multiple filters to analyze all wind characteristics and verifies the compliance with the IEC 61400–1 standard, edition 2, 3 and 4. The processed data can then be used in Meteodyn WT to carry out wind resource assessment for a selected area.

Meteodyn WDA can also be used collectively with Meteodyn GCS. It is possible to merge their data to perform the MCP (measure correlate predict) method to obtain accurate and reliable long-term data.

The software data can be shared with all other software on Meteodyn Universe and between the different workstations, making it ideal for teamwork!

The features

DATA PROCESSING AND VERIFICATION

  • The automatic or manual flagging

    According to defined and customizable rules, Meteodyn WDA automatically classifies data into different categories such as valid, completed, suspicious, invalid, icing, and missing. Manual data flagging is also possible.

  • The validity calendar

    The software automatically checks the validity of the data according to several possible sources and displays the percentage of valid data for a selected period.

  • The flag time analysis

    This tool displays the points statuses for each 10-minute step and for over 24 hours, for a selected period, depending on various possible sources.

  • The stability analysis

    The stability classes are computed for each time step in the time series and their global and temporal distributions can be analyzed.

DATA CORRELATION AND COMPLETION

  • Filling

    Meteodyn WDA completes the missing data in the wind measurements by extrapolating the data from the selected reference element.

  • MCP (Measure - Correlate - Predict)

    The software performs MCP by correlating on-site wind measurements with long-term reference data from Meteodyn GCS, Meteodyn WDA or other sources. The resulting long-term time series better represent the local weather, which in turn, will provide better results if used later for a wind resource assessment analysis in Meteodyn WT.

IN-DEPTH DATA ANALYSIS

  • In-depth analysis of measurement data

    The time series, time profiles and data distribution are modeled and displayed in different charts for an in-depth analysis. A statistical table is also available.

  • Cross-data analysis tool

    The correlation between data can be analyzed in Meteodyn WDA's cross data analysis tool.

  • In-depth analysis of wind data

    Through various graphs, Meteodyn WDA provides an in-depth analysis of wind speed, turbulence, shear, and extreme wind speed.

  • IEC Validation

    The software checks the wind data compliance with the current IEC 61400-1 standard concerning extreme wind speed, air density, turbulence, wind speed and shear. The IEC 61400-1 standard amendments 2, 3 and 4 are available.

THE MANAGEMENT OF MULTIPLE METEOROLOGICAL DATA SOURCES

The measured wind data from masts, LIDARS, SODARS and weather stations can be imported, verified, completed, and analyzed in Meteodyn WDA.

Additional sources such as wind turbines or Meteodyn GCS mesoscale data may also be used in the data processing and analysis tools.

THE MULTIPLE DISPLAYS

Different displays are available in each analysis tool in order to analyze data from a different point of view. Global, temporal (day/night, monthly, quarterly) or directional displays are available.

Additionally, different analysis profiles are also possible: hourly, daily, monthly, quarterly, or annually.

THE ADVANCED FILTERING SYSTEM

It is possible to display only the measurement elements that meet certain criteria of zone, speed, direction, temperature and/or pressure.

In every analysis tool

Simpler data filtering according to time, direction, data sources at different heights and/or the time of day (day/night).

AN INTUITIVE SOFTWARE

The wind data analysis software is ergonomic and easy to use. A world map quickly displays the different elements such as masts, lidars, sodars and/or weather stations. For each element, a dashboard offers a quick preview of some of the data statistics (Weibull parameters, wind shear, data sources of speed, direction, temperature, pressure, humidity, etc.).

It is also possible, in each analysis tool, to copy the displayed graphs with a single click, to enlarge them, or to view their data in a spreadsheet (.csv export possible).

THE COLLABORATIVE WORK FACILITATED

Teamwork is facilitated by the remote access to a database which is common to all users. It is also possible to work on the same project, throughout the different software of the Meteodyn Universe suite, without ever having to transfer files.
