What are the sources of the data provided by Meteodyn?

The Wind Data Portal offers you access to high value-added wind data, thanks to Meteodyn's expertise and advanced processing of raw reanalysis data and satellite observations. The sources of the processed data depend on the geographical area and product, such as:

Onshore & Offshore Met Mast - powered by CFD technology:

  • Europe: CERRA (advanced quality) and NEWA (premium-CFD)
  • Oceania: BARRA (advanced and premium-CFD qualities)
  • United-States: BCHRRR (advanced and premium-CFD qualities)
  • World: Results of WRF simulations using ERA5 data as forcing data.

Offshore Met Mast - powered by SARWind® technology:

  • Northern Europe: Sentinel-1 Level-1 High-Resolution Dual-Pol (GRD-HD) products in Interferometric Wide (IW) swath mode. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data [2015-2024] downloaded from the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem and processed by CLS/METEODYN.

  • Onshore & Offshore Met Mast - powered by CFD technology : Delivery within two business weeks. This data benefits from a CFD processing layer performed by our experts, which requires more calculation time than advanced data.
  • Offshore Met Mast - powered by SARWind® technology : Delivery takes an average of a few business hours.
  • Meso-Microscale Coupling: Delivery within two to three business weeks.
  • Climate Change Analytics: Delivery within one business week.
Which data formats are provided?
  • Onshore & Offshore Met Mast - powered by CFD technology:
    • Time series are available in CSV format. The date format is either French or English, depending on the language of the website where the point was purchased.
    • The wind rose is in JPEG format.
